A Study on the Hardiness, Self-esteem and Coping Response between In Patients and Healthy People


Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship among variables to impact on stress coping process. For this study, I used three variables ; hardiness, self-esteem and coping response. Data was collected from 128 patients and 131 healthy people in K city. As measuring instruments, I used HRHS(Health Related Hardiness Scale) by Pollock, Self-esteem Scale by Rosenberg and Coping Responses Scale by So.
The data obtained were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Schaffer test, Pearson correlation coefficients by SAS program.
The results were as follows;
1. Hardiness & Self-esteem were statistically non-significant between in patient and the healthy People. But Coping response score was significant.
2. Hardiness was statistically significant by only two variables of socio demographic variables (educational level and admission period).
3. Self-esteem was statistically significant at educational level, marital states & admission period.
4. Coping response was statistically significant by sex.
5. The relation among hardiness, self-esteem and coping response was positive correlation.
